Vintage Universal Geneve Polerouter Jet (ca. 1960)

$1,495.00

A beautiful artifact from the jet age. To commemorate flights going over the north pole Scandinavian Airline systems commissioned Universal Geneve to produce a magnetism-resistant watch for crews. The Polarouter (later changed to Polerouter) was born. Originally designed by Gerald Genta, the Polerouter went through a number of iterations. This late 1950s 40355 with calibre 215 Microtor (micro-rotor) movement inside is remarkably well preserved and runs beautifully. The micro-rotor automatic enabled Universal Geneve to keep the case height to just 10 mm, making this svelte beauty perfect for any wrist size or occasion, with timeless appeal.

The caseback is adorned with the Polerouter logo in clear relief, unlike many examples which have been polished and lost definition. This does mean that the watch has some light scratching and scuffing on case and crystal. This is a great piece for a vintage collector or anyone interested in notable milestones in the history of watchmaking.

Please note, as this is a vintage watch it should not be submerged or subjected to strong vibration or shocks which can damage the movement.
